Political scientists and historians from the U.S. and Europe talked about the philosophies of Alexis de Tocqueville, questioning how much of a democrat he was and how much the philosopher Aristotle influenced his writing. The discussion was based on Professor Diggins’s paper, “A Vanquished Aristocrat in Democratic America: Alexis de Tocqueville on the Topic of Aristocracy.”
